PostSubject: A little for a letter I got   Mon Jun 20, 2011 6:55 pm

I am helping a friend translate a written letter she got and am having a little trouble with some of it, partly b/c the writing is a little messy so I'm not 100% certain of a couple words, and partly b/c I'm getting confused in general with the grammar. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The writer of the letter is from near Sài Gòn, in case that helps at all.

Cám ơn rất nhiều!!

1st issue:
The grammar of this sentence is a little confusing for me, and I'm also not sure if "viu ve" in the sentence is correct. I think that's what the words are, but I can't be sure and they don't translate to anything that I think makes sense.
Cho em gởi lời chúc sức khỏe đến bố mẹ và anh chị em chị được viu vẽ mạnh khỏe hơn còn em và anh chị của name vẫn khỏe.

2nd issue:
Another word I'm unsure of is lo (though it may be la or le - it's very hard to read). The whole sentence is:
Bé có học giả không có vân lờ chị không?

3rd issue:
I think I understand this sentence - she's saying she hasn't received a letter in over a year and is worried...is she also saying she doesn't know if she's still alive?
Hơn 1 năm qua em chưa nhận được thư của chị không biết cuộc sống bên đó như thế nào em rất lo cho chị.

4th issue:
I think I understand all but the end of this sentence. I may also be misreading the last two words. If I'm correct, she's saying she prays for their health and something else at night.
đêm nào em cưng cầu nguyện cho chị được mạnh khỏe và vui hét.

Final issue:
This one I'm just not sure I'm making sense of it properly. The last word is very hard to read, so it may not really be "đa". The sentence is:
Đang nóng dần lên và kinh tế cuộc sống. Đang gặp nhiều khó ohăn biến đả?

@CobaltDragon:

1st Issue:

I think there are a few typos in that sentence. It is "Cho em gởi lời chúc sức khỏe đến bố mẹ và anh chị em chị được vui vẻ mạnh khỏe hơn còn em và anh chị của Nam vẫn khỏe. It means: "Wish you and your family a happy, healthy. I and Nam's brothers are still healthy".

2nd Issue:

I can not guess if it is not put in the specified context. But "Bé có học giả không" is may be: "Does your kid pretend to learn?"

3rd Issue:

She say: "I haven't received a letter in over a year. So I don't know about your life and I very worried about you".

4th Issue:

It means: "Every night I pray for your health and your happiness". I think "hét" in that sentence is "hết". It is a word that usually used for spoken language. In this case, you can understand "hết" as "all night"--> "All night I pray for your health and you happiness".

Final Issue:

I think the writer of this letter want to say: "Economic life is heating up. But there are still many difficulties and changes"

Now i'm understand.

In 2nd Issue:

"Bé có học giả không có vân lờ chị không?" is "Bé có học giỏi không, có vâng lời chị không?"-->Does your kid (Tuyền) study well in school? Does he (she) obey you?

In Final Issue:

About "đang nóng dần lên". This sentence lacks a subject. I have not seen the subject so I guess it is "the weather"(Thời tiết or Trời).--> "The weather is heating up".

"Kinh tế cuộc sống đang gặp nhiều khó khăn, biến đổi" -->My economic capacity and my life meet with difficulties, changes.

In Vietnamese, it's always important to provide context in order to be able to do a more accurate translation.
